Watching the village children play in the snow, a lonely couple yearn for a child of their own. They build a small figure from the ice and snow, and wish very, very hard… until the strength of their longing brings the magical snow child to life before their eyes!

She’s a girl like no other. As she dances in the wild frost-filled landscape and talks with the animals, she brings joy, fun and laughter to the whole village. But it’s not easy, bringing up a wild daughter of the blizzards and the wind. As the seasons turn, and winter gives way to spring and summer, will the snow child and her parents find their “happily ever after” ?

Tutti Frutti are thrilled to bring you writer Emma Reeves’ new play following her huge success with her adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather (West End) and her TV triumph, Tracy Beaker and The Dumping Ground, as well as her new up and coming show Eve.

With atmospheric music by Ollie Birch, beautiful movement by Joanne Bernard and an inspired design brought to you by Kate Bunce, this promises to be a winter wonderland of poignant, inventive storytelling to enchant children and families.

Emma Reeves

Writer Emma has won Best Children’s TV Episode at The Writers' Guild of Great Britain Awards twice, and been nominated on two other occasions. Her work has won a national RTS award, an RTS Scotland award, and been nominated for two BAFTA awards and two Broadcast awards.

Joanne Bernard

Movement Director & Tutti Frutti Club Associate Artist Joanne trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. She has 18 years performance experience working for a variety of companies including Ace Dance and Music (contemporary/African fusion), Foot in Hand (disabled and able-bodied dancers) and Tutti Frutti (children’s theatre).

Kate Bunce

Set & Costume Designer Kate has designed shows for The New Vic, Birmingham Rep, MAC, Pentabus, Birmingham Symphony Hall, BAC, Polka Theatre and Northampton Royal, Tutti Frutti and Derngate. Kate has also held prop and assistant design roles for The National Theatre, BBC, RSC and Almeida.

Wendy Harris

Artistic Director, Chair of PYA England

Wendy has held the position of artistic director at Tutti Frutti since 2005, touring nationally and internationally, co-producing the Little Feet Festival of Children’s Theatre, and leading on the development programmes and arts engagement work.

Ollie Birch

Ollie trained at LAMDA. As an actor: recent theatre includes The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari Arcola, Moby Dick, Arcola, The Norman Conquests, Liverpool Playhouse, There is a War, National Theatre, Four Stages of Cruelty, Arcola, Alice, Sheffield Crucible.

Elliot Clark

Elliot has been involved in professional theatre for almost fifteen years and has worked as a company stage manager in London’s West End as well as touring across the UK, Italy and America in stage management roles. He has worked on musicals, plays, fringe theatre, opera and many children’s theatre shows.

Mark Pearce

Mark trained at Central. His stage credits include: The BFG (Dukes, Lancaster), Porridge (The Lowry), Life of Pi (Greenwich Theatre), Sleeping Beauty (Keswick), Moonlight and Magnolias (Vienna’s English Theatre), Dangerous Lady (Stratford East) and The Firebird (The Watermill).

Mei Mac

Mei is a theatre maker and actor currently represented by Josh Boyd-Rochford, Simon & How. Training: Rep Theatre Training, Circus Space (NCCA), Lecoq method, CBSO Chorus, Birmingham Royal Ballet. Credits include: The BFG, Open House, (Birmingham Rep); If the Lights Are Too Bright (Ovalhouse); Khora (DanceXchange Birmingham Royal Ballet); Nowhere to Go (Roundhouse).

Paula James
