Yellow is the Colour of Sunshine

by Brendan Murray

Yellow is the Colour of Sunshine is a charming new play about two friends who learn to communicate about their feelings. Award winning writer Brendan Murray collaborates with Tutti Frutti again to bring you a show full of beautiful multi-coloured delights, for children to think about, be inspired by and enjoy.

Yoshi and Hani are as different as chalk is to cheese:

One big, one small

One noisy, one quiet

Side by side they play by the blue sea, run through the green fields and dance in the yellow sunshine. But one day the sky turns grey and everything starts to change…

Will the sun ever come out again?

This is a BSL (British Sign Language) integrated show, for both deaf and hearing audiences to enjoy. There are three actors in the piece who tell the story of two friends: Yoshi (who communicates through BSL), Hani (who communicates though spoken word), and Kite/Magpie (who communicates through dance).

‘Where this production succeeds is in its seamless integration of the British Sign Language that Yoshi uses throughout. It’s a lesson in how accessibility can be embedded in the creative process, as well as how – with minimal fuss or fanfare – children can be introduced to different forms of communication’
– The Guardian
