tutti frutti and York Theatre Royal present

Rapunzel

Written by Mike Kenny

For children aged 3+ and their families

Toured from 27 September 2012 – 23 February 2013
tutti frutti celebrated its 21st birthday by commissioning leading children’s playwright Mike Kenny to write a fabulous new playful production of Rapunzel, a story about a girl who is taken away from what she knows and protected from all the things that she loves.

Placed high-up in a tower above the world and faced with the challenge of growing-up, she is found alone, dreaming….

Rapunzel by Jacky Fleming

The sun goes up
The moon goes down
The world keeps turning
Round and round.

The moon comes up
The sun goes down
Can things that are lost
Ever be found?

1 year, 2 years, the girl gets older
The summers hot, the winters colder

3 years, 4 years, her tower stands straight
The girl is dreaming, and still she waits…..

5 years, 6 years, the years go by
She’s still alone, she wonders why?……

With fantastic music from Chris Mellor, beautiful movement from TC Howard and magical design by Catherine Chapman, Rapunzel is a delightful new production for children about the curiosity and joys of growing up, risk taking and discovering who you are.
