In response to the current situation, nine Leeds-based theatre companies and artists have come together for the first time to create a new theatre project, Live Little Stories, for the children of Leeds. Over one day across the city organisations- tutti frutti productions, Wrongsemble, Fidget Theatre, Alive & Kicking, 154 Collective, Slung Low, Unlimited Theatre, Interplay, Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah plus local freelance artists are running a day of micro-theatre and storytelling performances for primary school aged children and their families at six locations across the city- Interplay in Armley, Shine in Harehills, Slung Low in Holbeck, plus three different ‘Leeds Little Free Library’ sites.
Invited children and families will have the opportunity to see these fantastic shows: Space Shed by Unlimited Theatre, Hue Boy by tutti frutti productions, The Adventures of Walter Lemonface by 154 Collective, Rapunzel by tutti frutti productions and Wrongsemble, and five new pop-up story pieces by Fidget Theatre and Alive & Kicking. This project will bring theatre right to the centre of some of our communities in Leeds, and provide invited children with a chance to be delighted by a live experience on their doorstep in a safe way.
All events are taking place outdoors with strict social distancing measures in place. Unlimited Theatre’s How I Hacked My Way Into Space will be live-streamed on the Unlimited Space Agency Facebook and YouTube channels, and shared via all partners’ Facebook pages at 12pm on 30th July. This fantastic event is also being captured as a radio documentary and broadcast by Leeds Chapel FM. Funded by Leeds 2023.
